Caravus Helps Ronald
Part of the Caravus team had the privilege of volunteering this past Wednesday evening at the Ronald McDonald House adjacent to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis. For those unfamiliar, the Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they are able to stay close to their hospitalized child at little or no cost.
This wonderful organization has over 300 houses across the country and we were glad to be helping families occupying the house in the City of St. Louis.
Under the leadership of Caravus' own Beth Sprenger and Hillary Downs, the team pitched in to create a homemade feast fit for a royal family. We were challenged when the pre-meal instructions requested “comfort food” as that phrase is seldom used in our fit and healthy vocabulary. The team came through in a big way with the following menu:
- BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches
- Chicken and Broccoli Casserole
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Broccoli, Sunflower Seed and Onion Salad
- Garlic Bread
- Tossed Salad
- Homemade Brownies
Our only rookie mistake was making enough food to feed all 300 houses across the country. We hope the residents enjoyed the food as they will be eating it for the next month.
Thanks, Ronald, for allowing Caravus to play a small part in your wonderful cause!
